I understand Dasha is now based at Sharm - cheap to live, access to tournaments every week, nice weather.  Not sure what access she has to coaching but to me it doesn't seem to be leading anywhere.  I think there are one or two players of other nationalities  who have done/ are doing the same thing so maybe she can see a grand plan but it escapes me.

Pleased to see a win for Dasha - she is a lovely young lady and I do wish for success for her - just not sure she is following the right path to achieve it.  Thinking more about her being based in Sharm though, it's probably a practical solution to being outside of the funding loop - I don't believe she has any family cash to call on.

It does indeed look like a practical solution. You do the best of what your circumstances can afford.

I've absolutely no idea but she may be the tennis coach at one of the hotels there. Or has a boyfriend based there. Or lives with friends. Or teaches English as well. Or other possibilities.

After, if there's no family money, it's hard to see how she could manage to support herself out there, at hotels/renting your own flat, with the earnings she's had from the 10Ks.

But most definitely, all the best !

Dasha lost the first set 4-6, against the top seed, but it seemed to have been pretty close

Congrats to seventh seed, Mariam Bolkvadze, age 17, and firmly based in the UK, who's taken the title out in Sharm.
