The MD direct entry list for Wimbledon comes out in May. I can never remember quite how far in advance it is for Slams, but it will be second half of May anyway.

So Kyle has less points to come off ( the 8 Nottingham Challenger points come off later ), but also quite a bit less time to accumulate points.

As Oakland says, Kyle will be in regardless, but it would be great to get in on his ranking, and free up a WC.

Slam entry lists are based on the rankings 6 weeks prior to the start of the Slam (same as ATP tournaments) so Monday 18th May.

It's going to be tougher than I thought then. Probably has to win a couple of Challengers to get there. It would be great if Kyle could start with one of those this week.

Looks like ERV will be the SF opponent. He is currently up a set and a break in his QF.  Yet another Frenchman.

They get around, Bob - those pesky frenchmen, I mean. As per RJA's Chally threads, Bedene's got one too in his Q match. As have Marcus and Dan, in all probability.

I think it should be sent to the Mergers and Monopolies Commission . . . .

Schedule is out and not too good for those of you back in the UK. Matches start at 8pm UK time and Kyle is 2nd match on, so could be a 10pm ish start.

Given that the Challenger is being held in France, it's not a huge surprise that there are so many Frenchmen ... (as is Marcus and Dan's ... and Morocco was [unhappily] under the French at one point) Not the best places to go if we want to avoid them!

Yes quite annoying, it's going to affect my viewing of MOTD, but I can record it.

It's probably fair to say that Kyle has become a bit of a specialist at this level now. His play this year has been very impressive, but I would suggest his matchplay qualities in particular have shone through. I don't think there's too much to choose between the level of play of most of this field, but Kyle has developed a canny knack of finding a way through matches as the winner.

His ranking is rising steadily and with not much to defend, it all looks very positive.

OK people, I get the picture. I was just thinking that if it goes to 3 sets, the match could go beyond midnight, which may be mildly inconvenient for lesser mortals than yourselves. biggrinbiggrin

Having said that, the 1st semi is moving along at a pace as Bemelmans has handed out a 20 minute bagel.

It is now 6-0, 3-0.  I hope people aren't going to wait until 10.00 to tune in!

The stream seems to be better on the LiveStream feed rather than the ATP's site.....

Astunning bh up the line, a stunning fh up the line and Kyle has the early break. 1-0.

Then gets broken straight back. Ah well. You've done it once, Kyle, do it again. (Then hold!)
