A mixed bag for the girls:

 

R1: Freya Christie WR 835 v (1) Yuxuan Zhang (CHN) WR 416 (CH 224 in Aug. 14)

R1: Isabelle Wallace WR 677 v (wc) Xinyu Jiang (CHN) UNR age 15, Junior 143

R1: Anna Brogan WR 718 v (7) Xi-Yao Wang (CHN) WR 635 (CH 600 last June)

 

Freya and Izzy playing doubles together (against 4th seeds). Anna playing with Norway's, Emma Flood (against 3rd seeds).

A hard ask, never likely, but had hoped the score might have been slightly tighter:

R1: Freya Christie WR 835 lost to (1) Yuxuan Zhang (CHN) WR 416 (CH 224 in Aug. 14) 6-1 6-2


Anna Brogan and Flood lost their doubles 6-3 6-1

Izzy and freya's doubles still to come.

Yes. But the other girl had 13 BPs. And only took 4. So could have been a lot worse too . . .

Freya is my top pick for our youngsters, so no doubt of her talent/potential. And still a junior. Lots of learning the craft to do.

Well done Izzy. These Chinese players are really tough and rankings should not fool anyone.

Anna lost the first set 7-5 from *5-4 up.
