The main upward moves of note this week (wc 14/08) are:
- Katie Boulter up 12 places to a new CH of 60
- Katy Dunne up 96 places to 373 (now nestled between Eden and Emily A)
- Beth Grey up 59 places and almost back in the top 500, now at 511
There may be other big changes (up/down) too, but the WTA site keeps crashing for me on my phone
There isn't much in the way of large climbs this week, but there are notable small climbs. Jodie up 5 and back in the top 100, Lily up 10 and back in the top 200 and Beth up 14 and back in the top 500.
Rankings coming out Sunday as usual before a Grand Slam. Very little movement this week with Katy Dunne, Alice Gillan and Danielle Daley being the only climbers with their added points coming from Aldershot the week before. Danielle Daley is the sole new career high this week.
Congratulations to Katie Boulter on reaching the Top 50 for a new CH. New career highs for Jodie, Lily and Danielle. Lily's successful USO run takes her up to WR154 and GB#4. The biggest climber of the week is Matilda, up 50 to WR830. Very pleasing to see her move up the rankings after what has been a year of downward movements since reaching her CH 51 weeks ago of WR372.
11/9/23 50. (+11) Katie Boulter (New CH) 85. (+11) Jodie Burrage (New CH) 142. (-4) Heather Watson 154. (+44) Lily Miyazaki (New CH) 161. (-17) Harriet Dart 175. (-1) Katie Swan 194. (-9) Emma Raducanu 259. (0) Sonay Kartal 289. (+6) Naiktha Bains 300. (+8) Fran Jones
Brilliant for Katie after all her problems with injury and CFS. Only defending 88 points until the end of the year so will be in a really strong position to get into tour events and GSs for the first half of next year and really benefit from all her hard work by not having to qualify and frankly earn big fees for even being in the first round! Very well deserved. Just hope she can stay fit.
Really well done Jodie as well. She's got a bit of work to keep up there and consolidate her position in the top 100 for the end of the season but delighted for her. She's also worked really hard and had to fight a lot of injuries.
Well done Lily as well. So close to the top 150. She's got relatively a lot of points to defend before the end of the year but is in good form and seems on an upward trajectory.
There isn't much to celebrate this week with only Harriet, Beth and Sarah Tatu adding points. Sarah's point takes her to a new career high and, although not adding points, Emily A also rises 5 places to a career high thanks to others dropping points.
A few who haven't played for a while have notable falls. Emma drops out of the top 200 and will fall further next week when her last counter of value drops before her expected return in the new year. But with a protected ranking pending and unlimited wildcards her ranking is not of concern. Of more concern is Katie Swan who also drops out of the top 200 to 229. With a further 87 points dropping before the end of the year it is going to be challenging for her to make the cut for Aus Open qualifying. Of most concern is Amanda Carreras who falls down to 886. When her next counter drops in 3 weeks she will drop out of the rankings. She hasn't played since April and I don't know if she is injured or has quietly retired.

Another quiet week on the rankings. Despite reaching a W40 final, Harriet only adds 12 rankings points to last weeks total as 30 points dropped. Eden moves up 16 places to WR345, immediately behind Anna Brogan (WR344) and Katy Dunne (WR343).
A successful week in Shrewsbury from a rankings point of view for 4 of our women. Amarni Banks excellent run to the final sees her climb 123 places to a new career high of WR309 and into the GB top 10. Hannah Klugman (14 year old) is the biggest riser of the week in the entire WTA rankings, climbing 367 places and into the world's top 750 at WR 734. A new high in her young career of course. Fran made a welcome return and climbs back into the top 300 at WR285. Hopefully the recurrence of the injury causing her retirement from Shrewsbury is a blip and won't keep her out for a further long period of time. Alice Gillan rounds off the main risers this week, climbing 29 places to WR778.
Ella McDonald adds her 3rd counter of the year and guarantees a ranking into 2024. Holly Hutchinson is now the only one of our ranked women that is due to lose her WTA singles ranking before the end of the year (on 13 November) without a further counter.
