That's the key, but the annoying part about the GS's, is that they allow a whole host of singles players, who have no other intention than to pick up the handsome 1st round prize money use their singles rankings to enter, there's quite a few who you never see play doubles on the regular tour who suddenly turn up in a GS draw.
