RE: Week 7 - Tunisia F6 ($10,000) - El Kantaoui (Hard))

Not at all unexpected, unfortunately:

L32: (3) David Rice WR 420 lost to Yassine Idmbarek (MAR) WR 717 (CH 659 in 2010) 6-4 6-1

Hope the doubles goes better for him.

Either Bonadio didn't turn up this morning or Scott just slayed the court coz:

L32: Scott Clayton WR 1132 def. Riccardo Bonadio (ITA) WR 802 (CH 773 Dec 14) 6-1 6-2

So big congrats.

It's Bonadio's 7th loss in a row (he hasn't won an ATP-ranked singles match since making the SFs of a Futures event in November) but even so, given the rankings gap and the scoreline, a very good result for Scott

Sadly, Dave seems to be having a terrible time at the moment

All three matches involving Brits went against the rankings in the end, though in Neil's case, he was only ranked 3 places above his opponent:

L32: Neil Pauffley WR 671 lost to Filippo Leonardi (ITA) WR 674 (CH 526 in 2011) by 3 & 4
L32: (3) David Rice WR 420 lost to Yassine Idmbarek (MAR) WR 717 (CH 659 in 2010) by 4 & 1
L32: (Q) Scott Clayton WR 1174 beat Riccardo Bonadio (ITA) WR 801 (CH 773 in Dec) by 1 & 2

L16: (Q) Scott Clayton WR 1174 v (8) Pietro Licciardi (ITA) WR 618 (CH 556 last Nov)

It looks like a couple of weather delays.

Stopped at 2-1, re-started - Scott broke again to lead 4-1 and then stopped again.

Weather delays seem to be causing havoc with the schedules.

Scott is playing his last 16 match now, but they will have to play QF and SF today and already a few strange results - Peliwo got battered.

Scott dropped on of his two breaks in the opening set, but took it 6-3, however he is a double break down in the second.

Good lad, these couple of points could be the difference between main draw and qualifying in some events.

Will probably play the Italian 4th seed next.

Well done, Scott.

And Dave Rice and Yannik win their doubles comfortably, 6-4 6-0

QF: Yannik Reuter (BEL) & Dave Rice CR 1136 (920+216) defeated Anis Ghorbel & Francesco Vilardo (TUN/ITA) CR 2514 (1527+987) by 4 & 0

*****

SF:  (WC) Ronan Joncour & Victor Ouvrard (FRA/FRA) UNR vs Yannik Reuter (BEL) & Dave Rice CR 1136 (920+216)

The wild cards may be unranked (because VO has no doubles ranking), but they accounted for the top seeds, Crepaldi & Rondoni, who have a CR below 1000, in the first round & then saw off another ranked Italian pair in the QF!
