Wow. Whatever happens, what with Q and now, this is the best tournament I remember Covington having, by far.

Great show already. And maybe, just maybe, she can see it though . . .

Just checked - it's the first time she has won a set in a 10K singles main draw match since her very first one, in Wrexham in January 2011, when Lucy Brown beat her 4-6 6-2 6-0 - or in other words, it breaks a 33-set losing streak in 10K singles main draws!

Dominique looked like she might break in the first game of the decider but sadly, it all went downhill from there:

L32: Laura Deigman WR 831 lost to Dabin Kim (KOR) WR 775 (= CH; 18yo, junior CH 60 in 2014) by 6-4 7-6(4)
L32: Danielle Konotoptseva WR 856 lost to (Q) Karin Terami (JPN) UNR by 2 & 0
L32: (Q) Dominique Covington UNR lost to (Q) Aminat Kushkhova (RUS) UNR (CH 389 in 2011) by 6-2 6-7(4) 6-0
