He is ranked 122 now, with 55 players born in 1988 ahead of him. So he will begin the season ranked 67.

It'll be interesting to see where he will end 2007 at.

Since we were discussing young stars earlier in this thread, I'd like to point out a new name I discovered yesterday.

Meet Cheong-Eui Kim of South Korea (unless you knew of him before). He was born in March 1990 but is ranked 866, obviously the highest of all 1990 born players I know of. Doesn't play Juniors, so know wonder he isn't that well known.

His points have come mostly from Africa and weak Asian tournaments, but this boy made the semifinals of a Satellite in Pakistan at the age of 14 years and 5 months!!!

We don't have ranking data from the times of people like Aaron Krickstein, but there's a good chance that this is the world record for having a ranking point at the earliest age.

I have just received confirmation that Dan will go to South America to play the Juniors on clay.

...so the Two Dans have fallen back a little. But, Marcus Willis is storming up, and Dan III is now ahead of Dan II. Interesting to see Alexander Ward so high. I've never noticed his name before, but he's been winning a few matches in Spain & Turkey qualifying.

Buchanan should be lower, though. He has done NOTHING in the last few months. Such a shame as he was tipped to do great things when he got the point last year.

I weighted the junior rankings for age, that's why Buchanan ends up higher than Cox. Buchanan's still only 15.
If it's unweighted, it looks like this.

They are calculated using every match back to 2002, using quality of opposition, score, and includes qualifying. It's my adaption of the ELO ratings see http://www.eloratings.net/

Plus, you have to have played in the last 3 months to be ranked, and have to won a match in the past year. And it you've played less than 25 matches in the past year you're penalised. eg. Rusedski would be ranked 86th, not 131st, if he'd played over 25 matches.
