Idea for a weekly competition ...

******* Basle pts *****

Mkkreuk, Imoen, Drew and Ed all partially correct 15pts each

*********** Latest Table ********

Points standing after Basle:

Imoen 800 pts (the 'Fed' of this competition )

Mkkreuk 400 pts

Akhenten 330pts

Ed 315 pts

Peter 200 pts

Drew 145 pts

Michael 120 pts

************************************

How about this as a continuous competition :

Each week all the participants make one prediction: Which player will get through the most ATP tournament rounds, and how many.

For example  Tim , 2 rounds    or      Andy, 3 rounds  (or Big Arv, 5 rounds )

There is a weekly total of points ( say 120, for ease of division)  shared between all competitiors who got it exactly right. Getting a bye in the case of 48 or 96 draws would not count as getting through a round, though a W/O would count.

In the case of no-one getting it exactly right, 60 pts would be shared between whoever got the correct player

Running total of points carries forwards through the season,  where the top 8 put have to make more predictions for the Masters Cup to determine the seasons winner.

Predictions would have to be provided by Monday 10:00am

I would be OK to work out the points each week and keep the table.

Any interest for this ?

Great. In the face of overwhelming apathy for this, I'm going to do it anyway. And , to be honest, if I'm the only entrant I stand a good chance. I'm already measuring up the sideboard for a cup.  I can also struggle on manfully on my own in a thread quite happily, you only have to look at the Parmar v Meffert thread to see that.

So, prediction, Tim will be last man standing this week, getting through 2 rounds.

Great idea ed, I'm willing to take part. If I'm still allowed to take part this week, my vote will go for Tim !

LOL

I'm afraid I'll have to draw your attention to the Predictions would have to be provided by Monday 10:00am rule here Peter. However please feel free to put in a prediction for next week.

Looks like my Tim/2 rounds might not be far out this week, making me a hot favourite for one of the fabulous prizes lined up for the winner by our generous sponsors

Next week it's only Andy Tim and Greg playing ATP at Indian Wells, so since the draw isn't until 7pm or so UK on Tuesday evening , the deadline for predictions is Weds 10am GMT  (  I think the first day of play is Weds ).

Last weeks results:

Ed gets completely correct prediction, Tim to get thru 2 for 120 pts

However, I'll start for real this week. Either send my a private message, or just post your prediction up, either will do by 10am Weds.

Important note on the points shareout :

In the case of 2 players (e.g Tim and Andy) getting through the same number of rounds, then the points are firstly split between the 2 Tim and Andy, then between the players in this comp. Confused ? here's an example:

Player A,B,C correctly predict Andy thru 3 rounds

Players D, E correctly predict Tim thru 3 rounds

Greg only gets thru 2 rounds.

Total points to share =120, So A,B,C get  20pts each  D,E  get 30pts each.

Edit - typo I meant Andy Tim and Greg

For Indian Wells.....Tim, Andy and Greg will all be lucky to get throu 2 rounds !!!!!

Andy has the worst draw followed by Tim then Greg. (If Greg gets throu 2 rnds ho would meet the Fed so maybe its not so kind !)

My prediction is for............Andy to get through 4 rounds.

He can beat anyone in the qualies...also If he can beat Roddick and Hewitt he can beat Davydenko / Safin or Moya / Ferrer or Neiminen but could run out of steem against the likes of Nalbandian / Ferrero.

So with neck stuck right out...c'mon Andy get through 4 rounds and bags 125 pts in the process !!!!!

I predict Murray to last longest, reaching the quarters.

So I'm either going to look completely silly or  very clever come the end of the tournament!
