Something tells me this is going to be a good month for the Frenchman, Dave should be careful with this one.

Not sure I've heard of Dave's doubles partner:

R1:  (1) Jake Eames (AUS) & Dave Rice CR 709 (507+202) vs BYE

I don't recall Dave playing much on clay. Maybe for good reason !

Dave had 40-15 on serve this time but got broken again anyway, leaving Janvier to serve for the match 2-6 1-5*

Janvier holds to love to seal it. Looks like Rice and Clay don't mix ...

L32: (2) Dave Rice WR 355 lost to Maxime Janvier (FRA) WR 698 (= CH; 18yo junior CH 35 in 2014) by 2 & 1

Yep.

And Dave is one of those players who plays all from top half of his body - bit 'spindly' in the legs which seem to follow the rest of his body, rather than giving him a solid base. Far more hard court style. I think Dave just went because he gets free dinner and breakfast and hopes to make some progress in the doubles and thereby get some good meals inside him smile

QF:  (1) Jake Eames (AUS) & Dave Rice CR 709 (507+202) vs Evan Furness & Gabriel Petit (FRA/FRA) UNR

I'm intrigued by the first Frenchman's name...

Tough start to the year for Dave against Janvier. Just hoping that Franck Fevrier doesn't come out of retirement next month or it could get even tougher.
