- increasing prize money levels (though I wish they'd index them in some way instead of having another set of levels that may stay where they are for years) - no more 10Ks, anyway

- making all Futures & 25K & below ITFs into +H events (not full hospitality but per diem amounts capped at an extra 10K per tournament in total)

Then, to ensure that prize money increases benefit the right players (they're effectively trying to cut the total number of players a bit but enable 150-200 more of them to break even and many more to cut their costs, ultimately trying to ensure that being top 200 is good enough to make a worthwhile living), each new prize category is intended to:

- Have a set number of job opportunities each week (i.e. better calendar management from the centre, I assume, as on the main tours)
- be geographically spread
- benefit from clear play down rules (also long overdue)

They are also intending to offer a new, entry level tier offering points that enable players to progress onto this new ITF Pro Tour. 

There will be some losers as well as winners out of this but overall, it seems pretty coherent - I hope they implement it!

It seems as though the ITF have now published their proposals for increasing prize money from 2016.  Here is a link with some of the details.

Not sure if I am reading this correctly but I interpret "Mens Pro Circuit: Initial two levels rise to 15K+H* and 25K +H*." as meaning that these tournament prize structures will replace the current 10k and 15k events. I wonder if this will mean a reduction in the overall number of tournaments.

Taken from the survey article :-

"The average cost, not including coaching, of competing last year was $38,800 for male players and $40,180 for female players. The distribution and levels of prize money in the professional game meant that the break even point on the combined singles and doubles earnings list (i.e. the point where average costs met actual earnings) was 336 for men and 253 for women in 2013."

These figures will be assuming the players are taking no drawings for personal use and also will be based on the minimum amount of international travel. Talking to players at this level it seems the break even point is much nearer to 100-120 (atp and wta) at which point every player has a full time coach which then pushes the break even point further towards 70-80 !

Ask any male player at 300 or female player at 250 about the financial calculations in the survey and you'll begin to get the real picture.
