We seem to differ on the rankings - are the new (8 Dec) rankings already out somewhere? I can't find them - the WTA pdf still shows 1 Dec and their main rankings page hasn't even been updated to last Monday yet (it's still on 24 Nov) but neither of them seem to match either. As far as I can see, Chamarthi joined the rankings 2 weeks ago and will still be ranked tomorrow,

I went to the WTA site, selected rankings - UK, so that I could do them all in one go.

Ah, I hadn't realised out rankings differed - yours are 24 Nov rankings - I don't know why the WTA didn't update their main rankings page last Monday, only the pdf version shows 1 Dec rankings at the moment. I might not have noticed either had I not got them from a different source and then realised they didn't match.

I was actually talking about the rankings of their opponents in Miriam's post though - they don't seem to match the 24 Nov or 1 Dec rankings yet they are close enough that they must have come from somewhere.

I got them from the ITF main website and rankings from the acceptance list.

Ah, that solves the mystery - the rankings on the acceptance list are based on whenever the original entry deadline was, and would explain why you had Chamarthi as unranked. Which date's rankings appear where is sort of logical but still apt to be confusing!

Em struggling early on. The Indian teenager hits big and looks quite accomplished on grass.

Em *1-4

saves break point

2-4*

She's had a few break points but not able to capitalize so far. Courts are in terrible shape, lots of bad bounces so a bit of luck involved in this one too. Usual grass court stuff. Love the Indian noise and the ball kids just in their normal clothes. And the umpire not announcing the "Webley".

Double fault finally gets Em the break

*3-4

Em takes her 7th game point, saving a break point. Pretty dominant behind first serve, but not getting enough in

4-4*

The Indian hits a few peachy winners, but Em breaks to 40.

*5-4

Holds to love in the blink of an eye
