Hardly plain sailing but Dan has got the first set 6-4 against the French youngster. Lots of breaks of serve. Hopefully will step it up a gear now . .

All the best to Dan.

He was soaring towards the top 200 earlier in the year and can do again.

Stay fit !

Dan won the first 4 points of the breaker, held on to win it 7-5

This would be a big win for him if he can pull this off. He's still won 15 less points!

Pity.

Looks like Dan fought well, but still a way to go to get his game really back in gear, probably understandably so.

I would think that that's the short to medium term priority rather than thinking about Aussie Open qualifying, whether that becomes an option or not.

Masur is a 20yo with a JCH of 13, so he's probably somewhat under-ranked.
