well, Julian Cash and Florian Lakat (who seems to be staying French . . . got me quite worked up when I thought he was changing !) won their doubles semi 6-0 6-0 !!!

So into the final, and good luck to them !

As CD correctly reported earlier:

SF:  Julian Cash & Florian Lakat (FRA) UNR defeated Sun Faijing & Tao Jun Nan (CHN/CHN) UNR by 0 & 0

*****

Final:  Ben McLachlan & Justin Shane (NZL/USA) vs Julian Cash & Florian Lakat (FRA) UNR

Has to be a decent shot at a title for Julian & Florian.  Here's hoping anyway.

I had high hopes when the boys served for the first set at 5-4 - & then failed to win it! cry  Bloody college boys (I assume). furious

Monsieur Lakat has merely cashed in along with Julian on the American College Football sponsored (subsidised is probably more accurate) shamateurism of the NCAA tennis set up, sort of capitalism with a socialist twist. I just wish we could get the EPL to share the love amongst the grass roots of UK sport in general but I digress.

Shame our Lone Bulldog couldn't bring home the spoils of a doubles futures final but it should be fun watching his and the all British Tigers pop up in a few more Southern US futures events over the next few years. Memphis always generally regarded as a Basketball superpower fully exploiting the one and done principle through which they can get in NBA superstars for a year (amazing the NCAA managed to pull that off) seems to be strengthening their tennis programme utilising the LTA in a development capacity.
The idealist sees a potential symbiotic relationship but the realist tells me that I should enjoy it for what it is, Greenwich Borough v Dulwich Hamlet but here's hoping we have sent them Andy Gray and Ian Wright, Wright, Wright.
