Good win for Katy.

Bit disappointing from Katie, just because this was another match in which she created lots of opportunities for herself but couldn't take them.

For what it's worth, Xun defeated another top 400 player from a set down in R1 too, but the bagel in the 3rd is a bit worrying - hope Katy is ok.

They played their full doubles which might suggest the singles for Ms. Dunne was just a bad finish (or an amazing opposition).

I just get a feeling that they haven't each managed really to get much out of first or second gear so far on this trip, which is frustrating for them, I'm sure.

QF: Boulter/Dunne (GBR/GBR) lost to Korashvili/Sotnikova (UKR/UKR) 3-6 3-6

Katy will now move up to GB no 4 on Monday week, but it is a pity that it has lately really been because of Tara falling back. Indeed, we look quite likely to shortly be down to just three players in the top 300. Hopefully, Katy and ( indeed Tara again ) can add to that number soon, because it would be a very depressing statistic.

Longer term, with all the good youngsters coming through, and hopefully returness from injury, particularly Laura, there look to be some potentially very much better times on the women's side coming. But now is not a good time.

I got the impression both Katy and Katie went down under, both still suffering from or just recovered from injury niggles. I hope things are / are getting much better.

I wonder whether climate conditions in Thailand aren't exactly helpful for British players to perform at their best, I might have played in Perth if it had been my choice. Hindsight is very easy though.

I'm guessing the plan was to get back for the Bath 25K and to avoid jetlag split the journey into two "shorter" plane trips rather than one very long one
