Life is a little easier when you take your break points!

3-3*

5-3*

2 match points at 15-40...

She gets it! What a fantastic come back, 6 games in a row from a break down to win 26 64 63

Brilliant!

What a comeback! A career best ranking scalp for Beth, which will get her onto the WTA singles rankings

L32: (Q) Sarah Beth Askew UNR beat (7) Cristina Ene (ROU) WR 628 (= CH; 18yo ex-top 150 junior) by 2-6 6-4 6-3

L16: (Q) Sarah Beth Askew UNR v Yumi Nakano (JPN) WR 781 (CH 555 in 2010)

She was only a single break down in the 3rd wasn't she? (*0-3) Even so, 6 games in a row from 0-3 down (after earlier being a set down too) to take a career best ranking scalp is pretty amazing I should have said "back onto the WTA rankings" - she set a career high of 1206 in Feb.

Sorry Steven yes that's right, got confused with her having missed break points in Ene's first two service games.

And the magnitude of that improvement in the CH victory.
Previous best was 946, today 628.Done the hard way too, from a heavy set down. No just catching a player cold on bad form.
Well done indeed Sara Beth

Thanks also to Helen Parish for her wonderful list of GB CH, always so meticulously updated. I use it at least a couple of times a week; an excellent resource.

What a great win !

She has really had a good few weeks - starting with some very good British Tour showings and then really stepping up.

Very pleased for her !

... and the 946 scalp was her FQR match here!

I hope that will be enough to get Beth a wildcard for Loughborough next week.

Beth went to a tie break in the second set, was 4-6 down, but came back to win it 8-6 and force a third set

But now 0-5 down

Still time but the Brits certainly seem to be having a rash of third set losses today . . .
