Very busy week with lots of guys playing challengers rather than Loughborough, which is quite weak. No sign of Lewis Burton, Qualifiers at Charlotteville and doubles with Marcus?

Where will Josh Milton turn up - he should make main draw in the Indian Ocean and it's all paid for, but I expect him to stay at Loughborough, given he is playing Manchester the week before.

Anyone who wants to see Farris Gosea may get the chance at Loughborough.

Nice to see so many of the young junior girls playing - more will get in at Loughborough when the multi entrants drop out.

Ward should be the 3rd seed here, a good run could see him into the top 100!

Good tournament for James.  A long way to go for not much money.  I guess the potentail points make it worthwhile!  Wardy the points vulture! biggrin

Any idea what is up with Dan Evans?  He seems to have given up for the year (in more ways than one).   I notice from Twitter that his WAG seems to have lost interest in him as well....

Paulisi's list of who is defending what show beautifully the progress the British men have made this year with a lot of guys going to challengers with a realistic chance of going deep v cannon fodder or ITF last year. Onwards and upwards

It's not my list - It's copied from Steven's tables, but serves the purpose.

Women's Loughborough 10K is opening up nicely for our girls(4 now there) and I would expect another 3 to 4 to make the draw later today after drop outs.

It begs the question how are the LTA going to plan next years schedule.

The women should be lots of 10K and 15K early on and then a mixture of 15K and 25K once the like of Jade, Sam, Katie B, Katy, Tara, Lisa W(started serving again) and a few others get their ranking up to that level

The men seem to be two tiered with about 10-12 at challenger/15k and the remainder only at 10K

I have said elsewhere that I think on balance it has been a pretty good year for the Britrish men, particularly with regards to the the big increase in the guys now in or close to the top 300.

But I have to admit, while it's good to see the list of points defenses, I don't see how it beautifully shows or really shows at all what you claim. I'm really pretty puzzled by that remark regarding the list showing our players' progress ( even though quite separately, I do think progress has been made ).

Last years points actually show not a bad week in challlengers, Brydan to a SF, Evo to L16 and David Rice and Josh Milton getting through qualifying. It was again a particular week with a large British challenger entry ( at least 10 in all, looking like it may be a bit more than last year ) with in addition to these players scoring points in challengers, James losing in R1 and Ed, Alex, Dan Smethurst, Richard Gabb and Ashley Hewitt also competing in qualifying but failing to qualify so have no points to defend on the above list.

Many of these are again entered in challengers for week 44 this year. Will many go deep ?  Let's wait and see, I hope some do. But, to my mind, so far, while we have developed more challenger level players ( players who at their best can be competitive in challenger tournaments and win some matches ), we haven't yet been looking like having many ready to go deep on any sort of regular basis.

Reunion, presumably, manages to be both the most remote Challenger of the year (really can't imagine anything beating it ... or is there a St Helena tournament?) and yet also one of the "nearest" as held in "France".
