Tough draw ?  I don't know - I thought the first round looked pretty winnable smile

I know that was tongue in cheek, but Dommie won't qualify and our two girls play each other, then a potentially good junior.

In fairness Dominique has a resonable record at qualifying, just can't get through that MD 1st round.

Surprised Beth won that match.

Jennifer Moinard is a decent player, in the 'second' group of top juniors i.e. not in Océane Dodin's league, or the three or four of her calibre, but nicely in the next group down.

She made the national championships (Under 18) this summer, which is no mean feat, and won two rounds, getting knocked out in the last 16 by Carla Touly.

However, Dommie has her moments and, after all, if you look back a year, everyone was saying Eden Silva would never win, would get bakery products etc. and she 'came good' so maybe it's Dommie's turn - she's had some close-ish matches this year.

NB Re Beth Askew, she won the British Tour event convincingly a couple of weeks ago, beating Dasha who had already beaten Charlotte Pearce. So I'd have thought Beth may well have been the favourite. Grabher is a tricky draw though . . .

Dommie took rightful umbrage at paulisi's evaluation, fought back and qualified, yet again. Point this week?

I doubt it. Good win to qualify though.

Great to see Dommie prove the naysayrers wrong - I'd had a little 'buy a drink' wager with a French friend that she'd win so I'm one drink to the good :)

Looks like it was quite a battle too . . .

And (though definitely not the favourite) Dommie has arguably the easier draw too - Karolina won one 10k but has been knocked out in R2 in all her others, whereas Dejana seems to be a it more consistent with QFs and SFs. But Lucy played very well down in Spain a couple of weeks ago. So fingers crossed - here's hoping.

Despite 11 DF in 10 service games, Askew & Pearce win comfortably, 3 & 4
