That is brilliant - and I must confess, not at all expected by me. When I saw Troicki's name, I thought what a shame for poor James. Well done that man!
FQR: (q13) James Ward WR 117 defeated Victor Troicki (SRB) WR 152 by 4 & 1
******
R1: (Q) James Ward WR 117 vs (16) Kevin Anderson WR 19
Head-to-head: 0-2. Anderson beat Dino by 4-6 6-3 6-4 at Queen's in 2012 & by 5-7 6-2 6-1 in the second round of the Baton Rouge Challenger in 2010, when Rajeev Ram was the top seed & Anderson the second. If Dino could but do something about converting a one-set lead...
James will be starting v shortly. And i'm off to a meeting :( hopefully some good news on my return.
just a point to note re the Troiki match - James was a break up all of the first set, had at least 1 set point at *5-4, but then found himself break down, on a second serve. However he won the point, set and ultimately the match. Don't have a clue what actually happened on that point, however its great to see the added mettle to win it - whereas a year ago he might not have. In my mind at least, it reflects the strides he's taken this year - so often a point here or there can make all the difference!
