RE: Week 40 - Challenger ($100,000) - Sacramento, CA, USA (Hard)

I'm not really sure where to post this question, but is there any news on Dan Evans?  Is he still nursing that knee injury?  Apologies if this has been talked of elsewhere....

No ideas about Evo - never tweets about tennis, although I did see a tweet of him playing table tennis at Edgbaston priority a week or so ago.

Liam just started. 1-1 first set.

Can't complain too much with that draw!

Kyle v. Querrey is scheduled for not before 16.30 with I think is 02.30 gmt.  Liam is 3rd match after 10.00 local but on the untelevised court again.

Liam won his fqr doubles 12-10 in the mtb.

In a strange way, it might actually be a good draw for Kyle.  As with when he came up against Sam Q at Queens, he often plays more freely against the bigger names.  As his game has moved on and his experience grown, hopefully he'll now be able to keep that freedom right to the end of the match.

Indy very graciously posted (on Liam's previous Chally thread, I think) that he'd been one of the doubters re the LTA's strategy of clay court futures tennis for the lads, and missing Wimbledon. But wanted to give credit where credit was due, in that Liam had certainly come on leaps and bounds, and well done to the team.

Just want to echo the same thoughts because it was well said and shows there are many paths to Rome, and some probably better than others (Oli's choice to play Wimbledon and not toe the line can't, with hindsight, claim to have been the best choice of his).

So, yes, it still strikes me as a little bizarre but who am I to say . . . (a tiny churlish part of me thinks maybe Liam's just 'clicked' ever since the NTC closed, slightly JWH style but more so. But that's ungracious, and probably not true).

So, a mega well done to Liam for moving seamlessly up to Challengers (he may well lose this match now, but he's showed he fits in there). And well done to his LTA team too. And to his 'new' guys, as far as they're involved now. Onwards and upwards.

And, a vote in favour of those hippy-dippy shorts of his - I like them !

Thankfully, Kyle's match is not before 00.30 BST (though it may end up being 02.30 if the earlier matches are long!)

I got myself a couple of pairs for my matches - I believe they're still available on Pro Direct!
