RE: Week 39 - ATP World Tour 250 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Hard)

great to see James turn up here - qualification should now be a formality.

think he'd have a good chance of round 2 too looking at the draw, and then perhaps a crack at a top player. one game at a time though.

Go James !

And he's up 4 places this week, to ATP WR 117 :::))) A career high (obviously) and getting ever closer to that magic top 100 mark . . .

The easiest 12 points I guess James will ever win. 4 sets, loss of 3 games. Now, lets hope for a decent draw.

Potential Opponents in Main Draw : Soeda, Niemenen or another qualifier. Q v Q winner to play Gulbis.

A relatively easy 1st round main draw according to the rankings, but Petzchner (524) was once the world no. 35. Ernests Gulbis awaits in the next round which will be properly tough!

James will be favourite in R1 but clearly Petzschner isn't a bad player given his history.

Would love to see him have a crack against Gulbis, who hasn't won too many matches recently

Petzschner is 3 months into a comeback after being out injured for 9 months. His form has been patchy but he is certainly better than a ranking of 524 would indicate.

FQR: (q1) James Ward WR 121 beat (q7) N. Vijay Sundar Prashanth (IND) WR 829 (CH 501 in 2013) by 2 & 1

Switching to the new rankings for the main draw:

L32: (Q) James Ward WR 117 v (Q) Philipp Petzschner (GER) WR 524 (CH 35 in 2009)

Going to be a tricky match, this one. Would only put Wardy as marginal favourite.
