RE: Week 38 - WTA International ($500K) - Seoul, Korea - Hard

Certainly the lack of a big serve exaggerates changes in momentum, with a relatively little change having one player winning games they were losing earlier.

So a woman player generally doesn't have to lose form much within a match to see a big swing or have lost it more generally to see a decisive looking scoreline against her.

My general worry would be that Heather apart from just today has dropped in general form. But, yes, certainly hardly a crisis and hopefully she can refind better form ( which is still pretty recent ) before too long. She's overall in a pretty good place considering where she's come from.

Maybe has gone a little stale after so many matches and the enthusiasm of being back winning and playing so well.

It was very strange today, she was looking very good for the first 8 games, well in charge and playing well.
Thereafter she just completely flatlined. Physically she was moving fine and constructing points well enough, but FH and serve ust become completely unreliable.
Gibbs didn't really have any decisive impact on the match other than to keep an even keel.

On current form this was the expected result, Gibbs is playing more to a top 50-75 level than a top 100 one at the moment, but why is Hev not able to play her best tennis at the moment ?!.

Not being close to the Hev camp, we don't know whether there are any external factors playing into this, so is it just loss of confidence in play here.

The one thing I have noticed and I don't know whether I am being too analytical is the forehand technique. I always felt her BH was her most reliable groundstroke, but eventhough her FH produced the most errors it still looked a solid shot. Now it looks very awkward to me, not to the same extent as Jo's but still not as smooth as it used to be. I wonder whether in an effort to find more power on that wing, this is the result. Caro Woz has a similar problem at times. Anyway just an observation.

Hev always likes to remain very positive, so lets hope this is just a blip, and not a downward cycle.
