Week 38 - ATP 250 - Moselle Open, Metz, France (Hard) - doubles

Dom Inglot has signed in for qualifiers here, so I assume he will be playing doubles with Mr. Huey.

Dom is playing Filip Veger of Croatia.

RE: Week 38 - Metz ATP 250 (Hard)

Lots of Brit interest in the doubles, but Dom surprisingly not playing alongside Mr Huey & also some other surprising pairings:

R1:  (WC) Jonathan Eysseric & Adrian Mannarino (FRA/FRA)  CR 974 (287+687) vs Jonny Marray & Jamie Murray CR 123 (91+32)
R1:  (4) Marin Draganja & Henri Kontinen (CRO/FIN) CR 87 (30+57) vs Colin Fleming & Michael Venus (NZL) CR 128 (67+61)
R1:  (WC) Marc Gicquel & Pierre-Hugues Herbert (FRA/FRA) CR 330 (177+153) vs (2) Dom Inglot & Florin Mergea (ROU) CR 67 ((38+29)

The top seeds are Mahut & ERV.

In the light of the above result, I'm going to edit the title of the thread.

Dom & Florin become the top seeds after Mahut & ERV lose to Jérémy Chardy & Lukas Rosol in three.  I hope that's not going to jinx their chances!

Could've been easier:  the boys were broken in the ninth game of the second set while they were serving for it!

R1:  Jonny Marray & Jamie Murray CR 123 (91+32) defeated (WC) Jonathan Eysseric & Adrian Mannarino (FRA/FRA) CR 974 (287+687) by 6-0 7-6(8)

*****

QF:  Jérémy Chardy & Lukas Rosol (FRA/CZE) CR 144 (100+44) vs Jonny Marray & Jamie Murray CR 123 (91+32)

Mahut and ERV actually withdrew and were replaced by Bubka and Stakhovsky, who then proceeded to lose to Chardy and Rosol.

That's good to see. Mr Marray particularly needs the points.

In some ways I think that Jamie is an ideal partner for Jonny. Jamie has boundless energy and enthusiasm but isn't quite up there as a "big name" which I think is perfect for Jonny who is a quiet guy who likes to play with partners who have a bit more court presence but who are not a "big name" that puts too much pressure on him. From what I have seen, and what others have said, the problem with the Jonny and Colin (Fleming) partnership was that they are both the "quiet man" of the team.

For avoidance of doubt I both assume and hope that this is a one off and that Jamie will be continuing his successful partnership with John Peers.

Even if Dom & Florin had managed to get past Begemann & Knowle, I wouldn't have fancied their chances agin the fourth seeds in the final! no

It seems Dom has split from Treat and will play out the remainder of the season with Florin.
