The field here, apart from Venus, is scarcely stroner than a $50/75K, great potential.

Bit unfortunate for Naomi. I had thought she could get some great points on the board this week given how good she can be indoors and the weakness of the field but Mlad will be a tough ask.

In seniors, it is, but Muhammad won 3 & 1 in US Open juniors back in 2008 so JoKo has had to wait 6 years to get a chance to even things up!

When Jo broke into the top 100 I was quite sure that she could push on but it hasn't happened. At 23 she will have other chances (hopefully) but I'm worried about her capacity to improve when the pressure increases.

I'm actually embarrassed for her with this performance. It's even worse than against Peer.

She should not be getting torn apart by a player like Muhammed (no offence Asia).

She does look completely bereft of confidence, and struggling with many aspects of her game.

Just got to stick with Jo this year, take whatever comes until the end of the year, and hope that many things in her world improve in the medium term (hopefully starting with a comeback tonight)

I'm quite upset watching it because I so badly want her do reach the level of that potential that we saw in Vancouver last year, and this is, well, light years away from the beautiful tennis she played in that period.

Still, new set, scores level again. Come on!(?)
