We will be lucky if we get one GB girl through qualifiers.

All the 13 foreign players, including the 5 strong Japanese contingent, seeded and generally hugely outranking their British opponents.

Freya looks maybe the best hope of a home Q1 win in addition to the three from the all Brit ties.

Yes, you'd think if Alicia Barnett beat Miyazaki in two quite easy sets, as she did in Nottingham, then Freya should certainly have a pretty good chance.

Ayukawa was another Japanese player who didn't have a great time in Notts - whereas Beth Askew had a pretty close match with the eventual finalist - so maybe Beth's on form and the other girl is a bit nervous - often easier to win a first round match . . .

Play is underway at last.

With, as expected, Freya the only one who is up in her match at the moment.

Has play stopped? Is it raining there?
Only windy here although there are threats of heavy rain to come.

As hoped, Beth put up a good show. But lost in three sets. Camille also lost.

Laura D beat Georgia, and Manisha took the first set off Emily Appleton but the rest of the score seems to have disappeared.

Aimee, however, is 4-1 up :)

Aimee has taken the first set 6-3, against the runner-up in last week's Nottingham 10k :)

(just possible the Japanese player is a little tired/got a niggle or, simply, that Aimee is playing great !!!)
