Buzzing, really pleased for him! Anyone know when the qualifiers are placed & does Ward get 25 or 35 points for this so far? Also a R2 match vs Andy would be tasty! ;)

Great news - when James has a high service percentage, he is very difficult to beat.

25pts in the bag, a chance for more and decent prize money to boot.

Well done, James !

Heather and James through Cincinnati qualifying without dropping a set.

Looking on to the main draw now the potential first round opponents for Ward are:
Simon
Karlovic
Garcia-Lopez
Janowicz
Johnson
Sousa
Mahut

Some of those are definitely winnable although obviously they would all be tough matches.

Terrific result and two Top 100 scalps on consecutive days.

Effectively 35 guaranteed I suppose with the 10 points for a first round loss.

Not sure about the placement, but Wardy definitely gets 35 points at least and $11.850 guaranteed. That is without any LTA bonuses.

Ward even gets an honourable mention in despatches on Sky today during the Tsonga Federer match. Not before time.

A pity Buckland, Petchey & Co can't get their act together to produce a regular ten minute update on other GB players beside Murray.

James has drawn Garcia-Lopez, ranked 33 now, 31 years old but still a very good player. Not too bad a draw IMO though. Gasquet is the seed in his section.

Not the worse draw possible, if Wardy serves as he did today then he is in with a good chance.

L64:  Guillermo García López (ESP) WR 33 (CH = 23 in February 2011) vs (Q) James Ward WR 150 (CH = 137 in April 2012)
