I definitely didnt see that coming - what a cracking win! Nice one Webbers.

Mestach has been very up and down. I watched bits of her getting decimated by Loeb and she looked very average, but of course was a former junior no.1 and is on the rise, so will be tough.

Last week went better than expected, so a quick turnaround, but I'm sure this was always the plan.

Pity that Rae/Smith would face Webley-Smith/Foretz in the QFs if they both were to win their first round matches. Q places not great - but overall there seem to be a lot of people in the draw whom I'd regard as uncertainties both in the sense that they could do much better than their rankings suggest ... or much worse ... from Loeb (underranked university player - interesting to see how she plays after a stellar first year) to Krajicek (can she transform her doubles prowess into singles success?) to Gajdosova (Nottingham sweep-everything-before-you form? or last week's out-in-the-first-round form?)

Good news - Emily has a LL place and has drawn a qualifier, albeit former top 110!

Maria has dropped 250 spots since last July, but has quality. Hopefully Em is able to play a bit better tomorrow, no doubt she was a bit drained today.
