Week 25 - Wimbledon women's qualifying

Like the GB men, the GB women have drawn more seeds that you'd expect in QR1

Other seed in section: (q1) Kiki Bertens (NED)

Seeds in section: (q2) Pauline Parmentier (FRA)

Other seeds in section: (q21) Alexandra Panova (RUS)

Winner to play the winner of Lisa's match

QR1: (wc) Jade Windley WR 318 v Carina Witthöft (GER) WR 178 (CH 168 in Mar)
Seeds in section: (q9) Nadiia Kichenok (UKR) & (q15) Victoria Duval (USA)

Some of the opponents are a bit out of form or playing their first matches on grass this year, at least.

Real shame for the younger Brits, particularly Katie to get such difficult draws. I had high hopes for Katy picking up a win, maybe even two, here but with the leg injury and that draw it's a big ask.

I'd fancy a fit Lisa to take out Kovinic on grass but it's probably too early in her combeack. Em's opponent hasn't played on grass since 2011, but she will still need to play above herself.

Realistically, if we got 1 through and the kids were competitive and learnt lots from the experience it wouldn't be a bad day, although it's nice to dream of some big upsets!

I have a funny feeling that Katie B might spring the upset

I think Jade and Katie B have a chance. Just shows the standard required to qualify cannot see anyone achieving that

All draws are tough, but that's what happens when you are wildcards against higher ranked opposition.

Would love it if we got one girl through.

Katie must have a chance against the "dinnerlady"

Katy has reported fit, but Paszek is a real tough draw. EWS or Lisa could be the surprise.

Agreed Katy/Katie have the best shots. Paszek won't have had much prep time as she's come straight from Eastbourne and is only in average form.

Katie and Katy might make it I think one will plus I have a feeling Em might as well she couldn really have got a better draw. The rest I can't see winning a set but good luck of course.

Come on Em!!

Whatever happens now both these young girls are doing themselves very proud. You feel that at some point Arvidsson is going to dig in and find a way back into this match but Gaby is really showing her promise.

Freya is understandably struggling to make inroads on Kudryatseva's service games, but she came through a couple of very tough service games to keep that first set so close and will hopefully be absorbing every moment in to assist in her development.
