Samm Butler has won the first set 6-2 against the guy ranked 600 places higher.

Bettles, who had a CH of 1569 before going off to college, has also won the first set 6-2 against the guy ranked 1163.

Seemingly, if I understand right, Bettles has a slightly disappointing tennis year this year, (partly due to completing his US degree a little quicker than normal) but, with a couple of good years behind him before that, and a pretty good junior record, it's going to be interesting to see how another college graduate hits the pro-tour if that, in fact, is what he is really doing (as opposed to just playing a few tournaments over summer as part of a post-uni break).

Jack comes from a set down to upset last week's champ! Samm lost but another encouraging performance, by the looks of it, after his two career best scalps earlier this week.
