A place for all those things relating to Wimbledon that aren't quite right for any of the normal threads?
I don't know if others have seen or mentioned this before (for all I know someone on here wrote it!), but browsing in our local bookstore last week, I found "Analyzing Wimbledon: The Power of Statistics," which seems to be a fairly new (Jan 2014) publication. The OUP website (yes, it's an academic book) promises:
Comprehensive statistical analysis
Unique data set of almost 100,000 points played at Wimbledon
Statistical lessons gleamed from tennis can be applied to other aspects of human behavior
I haven't, but I got a Kindle sample that I've been meaning to have a look at, in order to decide whether to buy it at all and if so in Kindle or paperback format (not keen on spending £64 for the hardback even if it is good!)

Just read the summary. Now that sounds like my type of book ( tennis, statistics, ripping a few theories apart but no doubt confirming others. What not to like ? :)
I actually ordered the paperback yesterday. I'm no fan of hardbacks, and I couldn't resist the opportunity to find whether this relation to human behaviour is self-indulgence or whether there actually is a basis.
Does anyone know anything about the Wimbledon Quali wildcard play-offs this week ?
I believe they're taking place on Thursday and Friday?
Are the public allowed?
When and where are the draws posted?
Many thanks.

Not really the right section to post this but I see there is to be another grass court event added to the WTA calendar in a couple of years, Mallorca, to run alongside Birmingham.
Has anybody heard what may happen with the challengers as I can't see Nottingham holding them? We have other options here of course but I would love to see some appear abroad as well though I guess that remains unlikely.
OK< so this is slightly 'wildcards' but is mostly nonsense so my question is :
there are five wildcards available for the mixed doubles - who would you give them to ?
I'm assuming the top doubles guys will get in as of right, playing with someone pretty well ranked so here's some of my contenders for the wildcards:
Josh Ward-Hibbert and Joss Rae - I think that's a team with potential
Oli and Katy - let's have a 'youngsters' team (no real juniors cox they're supposed to be concentrating on their junior stuff).
Richard Bloomingfield and Emily Webley-Smith (OK, so I don't go by rankings or any such 'logical' stuff - just sentiment and 'why not'?)
Nik Slater and Dave Rice - I'd like to see Dave play with someone else.
Anna Smith with Jamie Delgado ?
(NB deliberately haven't chosen those who are playing in the MD singles - they're supposed to be concentrating on the serious stuff but I realise as most will lose first round it would make good sense to give it to them (Naomi, Tara, Cox, whoever). But the 'share your toys nicely' philosophy makes me want to share the spoils)
Ken Skupski has done well in mixed doubles in the past, and I'd guess Neal Skupski might do well also ... if they don't make it in on their own, they'd be my first two picks for the men. Ms Rae is an obvious choice for the women; beyond that, I'd go with your picks, CD, if only because they include most of my favourite players!
