Week 23 - Challenger (€64,000) - Nottingham, UK (Grass)

The qualifying draw is up, including 13 Brits (none of them seeded), at http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2014/1631/qs.pdf

I'll write out the GB details later if I get the chance, unless someone else gets there first!

Such an interesting draw, wish I was there to watch tomorrow.

As Baghdatis is not in the qualifying draw, I assume he has the last wild card.

6 Brits out of 8 for the top Qualy spot and yet it's pretty likely that none of them will take it!

So see many getting through round 1, never mind qualifying.

Willis is the only brit with a realistic chance of qualifying in my opinion.

Oli looks as if he is about to lose - down 3-6 3-5. Josh M won an all Brit affair whilst Sam lost in straights to the top seed.

Think your thinking of Todd Reid, another Aussie who won Wimbledon juniors about 10 years ago.

Lewis has just won the first set in a 9-7 tie-break. (I've only seen Lewis play once but thought he played a nice game and have been suprised since that nothing seems to be happening for him - but the time I saw him play was on grass, so maybe (just maybe) grass is his thing and now's the time)

Some of the others seem to be doing better than expected too, in terms of score, maybe not the actual win. It's not much bet better than nothing ?

Decent scores but few wins is fairly standard for the grass court season, I think.

Yes cry, I know that scores tend to be closer on grass (harder to break and all that). But you can't blame me for trying to be sunny and optimistic smilesmilesmilesmile

The main draw is an absolute shocker - two Dans get each other and the other four gets seeds in R1

L32: (WC) Kyle Edmund WR 295 v (8) Dudi Sela (ISR) WR 110 (CH 29 in 2009)
L32: (WC) Dave Rice WR 313 v (5) Kenny de Schepper (FRA) WR 72 (CH 62 in Apr)
L32: (WC) Dan Smethurst WR 244 v (6) Matthew Edben (AUS) WR 73 (CH 61 in 2012)
L32: Dan Evans WR 134 v (WC) Dan Cox WR 225
L32: James Ward WR 168 v (2) Steve Johnson (USA) WR 64 (= CH)

Dan v Dan H2H: 4-2 to Evo - they last met in 2012

Don't know but he won't have had much time on it. Saw him play Lokoli at the FO a few days ago where he came back from 2 sets down.
