I think it may be better in the long run if the decision is taken in March.

This week, the de facto question is whether GB should be allowed to parachute in a second singles player ahead of the DC final. How would the Belgians feel about this? When we have won, it would have permanently tainted the victory.

In March, the ITF will have to decide whether Aljaz is eligible to represent GB at the Olympics, or whether he will have to compete as a stateless person under the UN flag: which would make the ITF look ridiculous.

So I think he would have been likely to permanently lose his appeal now; whereas in March, I think he will win it.

Just why did the ITF allow Bedene to fly to Prague only to tell him to come back in March? Did the LTA email its 70 page submission the day before? I think we should be told.

I feel for Aljaz but on a point of principle I agree with the rule and the decision of the ITF not to ignore it in this case.

I agree with the principle of the new system - but still feel an exception should have been made for someone who predicated his actions based on a prior rule. There's no question of setting a precedent, as no one henceforth will be able to make such a claim.

 Agree completely. New rules should not be enforced retro-actively, and although this case was not decided before-hand, it was clearly in motion. Typical moronic decision from the heads that be.

Feel for Aljaz and the protracted way it was stretched out was appalling.

Hope he takes it to CAS as the decision gets overturned.

Still the strangest question for me is, why did he ever represent slovenia in the first place? Was he made too?
If i was habouring thoughts of playing for GB, I would have straight away in 200? said, oh I will not play for anyone else. I do not care if they were dead rubbers, he accepted his call up to the squad.

Pity Yes, I would have though CaS would be an option to try.

Vandenburg, the fact that he hasn't spent every previously waking hour dying to play only for GB and rejecting any other overture is not "strange" or a problem to me and re your other suggestion about voting re possibly dropping actively following Aljaz on this forum if he lost his appeal ( and any possible further one ) I take it you now realise precisely how that one would go. So we will be continuing to follow that British tennis player, Aljaz Bedene. You of course can ignore such threads as you wish
