If Colin and Ross are using Ross' protected ranking are they seeded?

Not according to the draw they're not (they're in the same quarter as the top seeds, Rojer & Tecau bleh ).  Not sure how protected ranking works, thus whether it would still entitle the player concerned & his partner to a seeding if their pre-injury ranking would have justified it.  I'm confident, however, that a poster more knowledgeable/authoritative than I will happily weigh in eventually & clarify the position.

I'm not sure if doubles rules are different, but in singles PR gets you entry only, not seeding.

Allan Hendry on Twitter:

"@GBtennis @colin_fleming @RoscoHutchins am I right in thinking that is the pair's first official match together on clay?"

... and believe it or not, he appears to be correct!

Hmm, so Colin and the recently returned Ross were the two doubles specialists in the team for our Davis Cup match in Italy. An established partnership, yes, but evidently never having played an official match together on clay.

I think the speculation must remain that perhaps Ross was intended more as a reintegrating squad member rather than a team member, then Andy got ill...

Anyway, good luck to them for their QF here.

QF:  (4) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 67 (34+33) defeated Daniele Bracciali & Andreas Seppi (ITA/ITA) CR 107 (56+57) by 1 & 2 smile

They play Rojer & Tecau or Colin & Rosco in the semi... hmm

Good looking win that. Would be very good if Jamie & John met Colin & Ross next.

Colin & Ross took the top seeds to a 1st set tiebreak but have just lost it 7-3
