I presume Joss is here also for the doubles. Time for Anna and Joss to hopefully start making progress above 25Ks as even 25K titles are becoming less and less rewarding rankings wise.
Be good, of course, to also see some singles success for Anna and co.
So, 03:30 and a GB player is in action. This is more like it! Jade is on court in her QR2 match.
I doubt anyone wants a full live score commentary on the match - I note with some sadness that these have rather disappeared for the most part from the forum, replaced by terse summations; "<player> won/lost ".
Suffice to say it's not been a great start with Jade at *0-2. Yashina converting on her 4th BP of the first game of the match. Long way to go. I'll be brief.
After that opening break it was a very routine set. Only three more BPs, Jade missed 2 and the Russian, in the last game of the set, took her only further one - and with it the set.
3-6 All to do. Come on Jade!

Jade begins the second set as the Russian did the first. A break in the first game. However, she then serves 3DF in her subsequent service game, and so, surrenders the advantage immediately. 3-6 1-1*
From that point on, Jade created one BP in game 5, 3 more in game 7, but could convert none of them. She faced none herself until game 10. At *4-5, they were match points, two of them - both saved. 3-6 5-5*
Another chance for Jade slips away in game 11, so she must serve to stay alive for a second time, and force the second set TB. 3-6 *5-6
*0-30, but Jade recovers with 4 straight points. Well done! So, into the TB we go.
If Jade can just sneak this, I fancy her to win the match.
0-0* *1-0 *1-1 1-2* 1-3* *2-3 *2-4 dig deep at the change over! 2-5* 3-5* *4-5 Yes!! Surge Jade, surge! *5-5 5-6* Aaaaargh! Match point #3 against... 6-6* Phew! Come on! *7-6 Oh yes! Please!?!
GUTSY! 3-6 7-6(6)
Wake up everyone, we're going the distance!

Any hopes and wishes that Jade could now power home, or that the Russian would have had her spirit broken by that second set, are quickly dashed, as Jade is broken in the opening game of the decider. 0-1*
What a fickle game tennis is. 0-3*
It will be a semi-mythical recovery if Jade can pull this one out. But, at least she gets on the board in set 3 1-4*
Nope. I am not going to get excited. *2-4
The soaring high, then the crushing down. There is nothing else like tennis live score misery 2-5*
Jade saves 2 more match points (numbers 4 & 5) but it's not enough
We would have hoped, and possibly even expected, to get two more through to the main draw. In fact, we got none through to the final qualifier For Jade today, the problem seems to have been, as with her match in Monterrey, a failure to convert the chances she created: 2/12 BP (Yashina was 6-13)
QR2: (q1) WINDLEY, Jade (GBR) WR 282 lost to YASHINA, Ekaterina (RUS) WR 458 3-6 7-6(6) 2-6
