The Newcastle 10k has seen quite a few withdrawals at the top end, except for a frenchman called Wang, so should be another successful tournie for team GB.
Good to see our top 9 entered in challengers or above and also Richard Gabb.
Has Richard won a challenger main draw match yet? He's had a few goes and from what little i've seen, i'm not sure he is ready yet to play at challenger level.

He's 0-5 in Challenger singles main draws, though he has won quite a few matches in Challenger qualifying. Maybe he's not ready yet but I'm glad he's got enough ambition to have a go.

I agree with your sentiment. He's won a lot of matches in the Challengers' qualies. And had some decent-ish matches in the Challengers MD but not won. It's close, and a good reason to mix them up with futures.
It's also exactly what the LTA bonus fund is designed to encourage - to get people out of the endless futures and make it worthwhile to have a go at challengers. Richard will have done OK from this.
My eye's are drawn to Mexico where the definitive "Dan the man is playing" can't but help feeling he would be in a different place if he d been born a day latter and applaud the changes made in 2010 re age group changes in junior tennis. Tennis really needs to go after the athletes that football misses ie those born in June July and August and hunt down the long ones! Can't help but feel at a foot taller than Evo and the same age he would have been worth investing in. Let's hope he gives the futures tour a real crack for a couple of years to still want it after presumably essentially funding his own development in college in the US hamstrung by the strict NCAA shamateurim rules is pretty impressive and probably warrants some LTA support now. The LTA funding mechanisms I presume are too restrictive to show that sort of intelligence any idea how or who is funding his development?
OK. So it's taken me 9 days to pick up on this and excuse me for being picky, but according to Seagull's original post, we appear to have a new player in the Newcastle Entry List who goes by the name of "Liam Bambridge". Maybe it's not a new player but just a genetically modified hybrid of two of our future star players

Well I seem to remember a "Heather Robson" being listed somewhere last year, during the grass season I think - credit to the LTA for being willing try out new and innovative methods of producing champions
