Week 11 - Challenger ($125,000+H) - Irving TX, USA (Hard)

Not sure I'll still be up when the qualifying draw appears but it looks like two players have won qualifying WCs in the wild card tournament (see http://bit.ly/1nywLzh) and I'm pretty sure that one of them, Samm Butler, is a Brit!

Edit - Samm is indeed a Brit - he is 19 and at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He has an ATP ranking (1917, CH 1774 in Sep), so no wonder his name looked very familiar

I don't think so - I think he'd have had to win his match against López to get an SE because to be eligible, you need to still be involved in the previous tournament when qualifying starts. Then again, the rule specifically mentions Friday as if that's always when the qualifying draw is, so who knows! I doubt it though.

I'm not sure how it works for players who do win their Indian Wells R2 matches either, since they could then win another match and not be able to play in the Challenger anyway - it's not like normal weeks when players still involved in tournaments are (almost) certain to have finished their involvement in the previous tournament before the main draw of the next one starts.

I bet Dan is hacked off at having to qualify for a Challenger event.  I wonder how well he'll handle two (hopefully!) matches in a day? I'm worried about his head as well as his knee...

Both Brits are a set up.

Winner of Samm's match has to play the winner of Groth v Kuznetsov.....

Good start - Dan needs to make sure he gets that 5pts for qualifying. It's all about the points to make it into that top 100.
