Looking at forthcoming tournaments there seems to be a lack of women's ITF over the springtime which is reflected in how few women are playing in March.
Edmund's not playing in that futures any more, so looks like he will be trying to sneak into Miami I guess, but that's far from a certainty. Would be weird to go to the states for just one tournament
Understood - and I get that it's good for him to get more experience of tennis at a higher level ... and that it's likely, given the time he's spent in Miami and the excitement about his prospects. And he's a sensible person with sensible people around him, so less likely to come to grief than many. But even so, if he does get the nod, it feels a bit too much. Three ATP WCs (even if the third is a QWC) in three months ... when there's a clear prospect of more down the road in the grass-court season?
Great news in a way but I'm not sure we'd be too happy if UK tournaments gave so many wild cards to those from other slam countries who already have an advantage in wild card terms. Of course, UK tournaments DO do this and we do tend not to be too happy about it.
Hev clearly has a prime case for a WC given her illness last year and form so far this year but despite being a big Kyle fan, I feel a bit uneasy about him being treated as if he is a potential top 5 player (or *cough* another Donald Young ...) when he hasn't quite shown that kind of potential yet. Then again, it's hardly something you'd turn down and all the signs are that if any young player can deal with this kind of thing without it going to his head or sending him off course, he probably can.
