Week 9 - WTA International ($250,000) - Acapulco, Mexico - Hard

QR1: Heather Watson WR 122 v Victoria Duval (USA) WR 144 (CH 143 in Jan)
QR1: Johanna Konta WR 119 v (q6) Anna Tatishvili (GEO) WR 114 (CH 50 in 2012)

Sadly, the winners will meet in QR2

Edit: Duval is the young American who upset Sam Stosur at the US Open. She is another Bollettieri girl - Nick was even coaching her last year. It's not clear whether he is still doing so but I think he probably isn't her main coach any more.

I recall Duval being interviewed. She's probably 17 or 18, but she came across like a little girl of 12 or 13, whereas most of the child prodigies seem to have been born with adult, mature, polished interview skills straight from the cradle....

Bollettieri is 82, so I think you could be right there.

Duval seems more of a counter-puncher, I dont think she will enjoy the match up with Hev, but I certainly see that as a tough match

Ms Duval and her family have quite an extraordinary story: www.nydailynews.com/sports/more-sports/american-teen-victoria-duval-true-survivor-tennis-match-wimbledon-life-article-1.160499.

As someone who would like to see Ms Watson, Ms Duval and Ms Konta all do well, I do not appreciate this draw! (Doubt they do, either)

A bit unlucky.
2 events to have chosen next week; both South/Central America, both $250K, same surface.
Had they'd opted for Florianopolis instead of Acapulco, the qualifying is very soft there by comparison.

Joko's match should be on court now - scheduled for 10:00 Acapulco, 16:00 UK - all 4 others scheduled at this time are.
But it's not on the live scores - can't see any indication of a RET either.
???

Ah, OK, they've moved that one match so that Joko is now second on court 4.

The in App OOP differs from the published OOP.

Nope, scrap that altogether.

Cetkovska has withdrawn (or been moved in to MD?) it seems, replaced by ALT, Amandine Hesse.

Joko now plays Maryna Zanevska (UKR) WR121 starting at 17:00UK

Hev & Joko will now meet in FQR only.

Hev still plays Duval, then Hesse/Tatishvili.

All change in Acapulco, hopefully for the better JoKo is now seeded and has been moved in the draw.

QR1: (q9) Johanna Konta WR 119 v Maryna Zanevska (UKR) WR 121 (CH 107 in Sep)

H2H 1-0 - JoKo beat her 1 & 3 in the QFs on her way to the Vancouver 100K title last year.

Yes, I thought that as Tsurenko started earlier. The other Ukranian is faring considerably better than Zanevska though.

That's because Joko is on fire. 6-0

Jo has to save 3 break points in the 2nd game of the 2nd set ... but does so, to win her 8th game in a row 6-0 2-0*
