Here are the teams that could potentially be in Euro-Africa Zone Group I next year and their ranking points as of today. Those in the playoffs can add points, obviously, but if they do, they won't be in Group I next year.
Those that have won playoffs or SFs in the last 4 years will lose points when those wins get deweighted, so such wins are noted below. The points to drop do not take into account bonuses for beating highly-ranked teams or for winning away from home, hence the "+":
SRB 8200.00 (away to ROU in WG II PO) - won WG SF in 2012 (1500+ pts to drop) SWE 2915.00 (at home to THA in WG II PO) - won WG II POs in 2010 & 2012 (500+ pts to drop) SUI 2907.50 (away to BRA in WG II PO) - won WG II POs in 2011 & 2012 (500+ pts to drop) UKR 2315.00 - won WG PO in 2011 (500+ pts to drop) BEL 2310.00 - won WG PO in 2010 (250+ pts to drop) GBR 2147.50 BLR 2132.50 - won WG II PO in 2011 (250+ pts to drop) NED 2022.50 (at home to JPN in WG II PO) ROU 2020.00 (at home to SRB in WG II PO) HUN 1687.50 ISR 1285.00 POR 1512.50 CRO 1412.50 AUT 1157.50 BUL 1120.00 TUR 1096.00 LAT 733.25
+ 2 teams coming up from Group II (due to be played in April), who won't trouble the top seedings.
So, it looks like the only teams that could be in Group I and seeded ahead of us would be:
SRB if they lose to ROU SWE if they lose to THA SUI if they lose to BRA
i.e. We should be seeded in the top 4 and if Sweden and Switzerland both win in April, we should be seeded in the top 2.

Didn't realise other countries had points that would drop off, when I just posted in the 2014 thread that I thought we would be 3rd or 4th seeds.
The perfect scenario then is wins for Romania, Sweden and Switzerland (and less importantly Netherlands). This would leave us seeded 2nd and unable to play Serbia.
SWE have beaten THA to confirm their place in WG II next year, while NED and SUI are up in their playoff ties too against JPN and BRA respectively - if they both go on to win too, it should be clear from the first post that it would be very good news for us. ROU are leading SRB too in the all-European playoff tie.
Meanwhile, Liechtenstein and Georgia are the teams that will come up from Group II to join our group next year.
Edit: Romania, the winners of our pool in Hungary this year, just finished off Serbia 3-1. That probably means Serbia will be the top seeds in Group I next year, but there's still a chance of us being seeded 2 and thus being certain to avoid them throughout.

NED and SUI both won, so there will be 15 teams in EAZ GI next year. SRB beating ROU might have been slightly preferable but pretty much as good as we could have hoped for from this weekend.

Based on what I wrote in February (when I was following Fed Cup more closely than this weekend) we had ideal results across the board. Just need to wait until Monday to find out if we will indeed be 2nd seed in 2015. Then we will have a much longer wait to see which players will be available.
Depending on fitness of our top players, we could be fighting for survival or favourites for promotion by Fed Cup time next year, keeps fingers firmly crossed.
The new rankings are out and these are the rankings of the 15 teams involved in the Fed Cup Euro/Africa Zone 1 for 2015:
6 Serbia
20 Great Britain
24 Belarus
25 Belgium
26 Ukraine
28 Hungary
31 Portugal
32 Croatia
34 Israel
35 Austria
36 Bulgaria
38 Turkey
40 Georgia
47 Liechtenstein
55 Latvia
So good news in that GBR will be in the top two seeds and avoid Serbia. Some potentially dangerous floaters but no-one of the calibre of Romania this year.
