Week 7 - Challenger (€42,500+H) - Quimper, France (Hard)

Evo and Wardy should be in the main draw, I believe.

QR1: (q4) David Rice WR 307 v Rudy Coco (FRA) WR 653 (CH 382 in 2011)

H2H 2-1 - the first two (in 2009 & 2010) went to 3 sets but Dave thrashed Coco 3 & 0 in Saint-Dizier last year

The winner plays (q8) Hemery or (wc) Poullain in the FQR

Pretty staggering that only 16 players are in the qualifying draw for a challenger in France. A few more of our guys should have made the trip.

I was thinking exactly the same thing RJA, for all the complaining about having no challengers, the near perfect one arises and no one takes advantage

all I know is that Quimper is currently under water

probably put a whole load of the southerners off - shame more of the Q Brits didn't go (assuming they can actually get there - the trains are pretty messed up)

L32: (6) James Ward WR 156 v Maxime Authom (BEL) WR 308

James should make the QFs here but he is in the same quarter as top seed Adrian Ungar.

Dave will be the next match up.

If he comes through this, he gets to play Lucas Poullain who, in the battle of the 18 year-olds, put out the better-ranked Hemery.

Hopefully this won't be a consideration but Evo's late withdrawal means that there is already a LL spot in the draw (currently shows as 5 qualifier spots).

Dave is a break down but there's been two breaks and several other BPs so maybe nothing too serious . . .

Dave had about 9 BPS over the first three games - only took one - and ended up losing the back end of the set very quickly.

6-2 to Rudy

A simply awful result.

Disgraceful result, provided there's nothing going on behind the scenes that we don't know about.

Authom has a career high of 143 set almost exactly a year ago. They have met once before, in Indian Wells qualifying in 2012, where the Belgian thrashed James 1 & 2.
