FQR: (q12) Miles Bugby WR 1511 lost to (q6) Mick Lescure (FRA) WR 1269 6-3 6-0

Mick is a handy enough player. He's playing the doubles with Forcin and they play Marcus and Lewis in the first round of the doubles.

That is bit of a shocker - so much for avoiding GB Futures to get more varied opposition LOL

L32: (4) Marcus Willis WR 393 v Lewis Burton WR 776

ITF H2H 1-0, 6 & 4, Bath last March

Och, it's not as if their singles apparently matter that much, for I've read lately that with them a trip can evidently be very successful based essentially just on doubles success.

Yes, I found that surprising too, and I do hope the winner goes far here.

Marcus should win but neither have hit form in 2014 as of yet

Quite a serving performance by Lewis so far - he has lost just 3 points on serve c.f. 13 for Marcus and leads the 1st set tiebreak 5-0*!

Marcus clawed 4 points back but then Lewis got 2 set points and converted the 2nd to take the tiebreak 7-5

Although Lewis lost, im sure there are plenty of positives to take from the match, including taking Marcus to 3 pretty close sets who is obviously ranked almost 400 places above him, anyway, lets hope Marcus has a deep run this week i'm sure it will be much needed.

It will probably take at least a week to adapt to conditions. Don't expect too much this week.

In the next round, Marcus gets the Thai player with the cut and paste name:

L16: (4) Marcus WILLIS WR 387 v Kittiphong (no 'h' on ATP site, 'h' on ITF site) WACHIRAMANOWONG (THA) WR 828 CH 457 2010

In the doubles, the UK lads beat the French boys without breaking sweat - 6-3 6-0. They play the Koreans, Kim and Noh, next
