Ken double faulted to give a break away but they played a brilliant return game to break back against the big servers to 15.

Wow - seeing it like a football on return at the moment and they break De Schepper from 40-0 down. *5-4.

From 1-4 to 6-4. Great stuff.

Neal was broken at the start of the second , but Ken completely shanks a return winner on sudden death deuce to get the break back. More excellent returning to get the break point chance though.

But Neal broken again with some surprisingly good returning from the Frenchies this time. Expected this to be a bit more serve dominated.

photo phew.gif  Once they got to 9-9 in the MTB, it seemed as though they just couldn't string together a run of three points! hmm

R1:  (4) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 143 (67+76) defeated Kenny de Schepper & Fabrice Martin (FRA/FRA) UNR by 6-4 3-6 [15-13]

R1: (4) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 143 (67+76) beat Kenny de Schepper & Fabrice Martin (FRA/FRA) UNR 6-4 3-6 [15-13]

They were ahead for most of the tie break and were 9-7 up but finally converted on their 5th match point. Neal crucially got a return in at 13-13 after many big serves which left them with little chance to start a point on return.

Nice to see the Skupskis get the W at the end there - and despite the opponents being UNR I'm unsurprised that it wasn't all plain sailing.

Paul and Jonny served for the set at 5-3 but were broken back, then had set points in the next game but their opponents held. *5-5

Edit: But it doesn't come back to haunt them, they take the opening set 7-5

Yay!  Jonny & Paul finally clock up a win, in a little under an hour, sailing through the second set after struggling a bit in the first! smile
