Remarkable non-GB performances

Congratulations to WR270 Renata Zarazua, who as WC in the Acapulco event has just become the first Mexican WTA semifinalist since former World No.34 Angelica Gavaldon made the final four at San Juan in 1993. She beat Sloane in R32.

In the hope that the odious junior will eventually discover it?

Hi Junior.  Smile and chill out a bit.

Over the last two weeks, I have lost two huge business deals, either of which would have got me out of my current "lock down" induced financial difficulties, and I have also found myself in a court room in front of a judge (think Judge Judy here) as I am being sued by a gas installation company for over 1000 euros because I haven't paid them for an installation that they HAVEN'T actually done - that's a long story.

So in the scheme of things, who we do and who we don't talk about on a tennis forum really isn't worth getting stressed about, for me.

And Yes. Rublev has had an excellent week and I expect him to beat Fucsovic in the final.

Hi Bob, sorry to hear about your problems (tough situation with the company we've all been there) about chilling out i completely agree with you.

However, I wouldn't dare to come to you and tell you in a very disrespectful and insulting way about things I have no knowledge about (your business deals or realistically any business). Is the same basic principle; whether its because its on the internet or British people are just that confused (arrogant and ignorant) about their own level of knowledge and understanding in topics, I stand up and defend the lifestyle that so so many of us have sacrificed everything we had and more for to receive this back

Bob, so sorry to hear your troubles. You've got my very best wishes - doesn't count for anything, won't make a blind bit of difference, but in terms of support and friendship, it's there !

And, junior, you wouldn't go and tell Bob how to run his business, true.

But nobody here goes and tells you how to coach either.

Coach as you see fit. Do a good job. Get more work. Do well.

It is you who come on the forum and tell everybody that they are stupid and ill-informed.

Which is not the same at all.

Now moving back to non-GB remarkable perfomances, who have people to suggest?

I'm looking forward to Kim Clijsters' and her return in Miami.

But not sure anyone else has really clocked my attention.

Youngster, back from injury, can't really think of anyone.....

In these tough times, there are millions of people who are struggling far worse than me. But thanks for the kind words anyway. I have put an explanation of my gas installation story in the Chat section (for peoples amusement), so that we can divert this thread back to the tennis.

Let's divert back by way of Clara Tauson. As I have just posted in the WTA 250 Lyon thread ...

"Yep, Clara will be top 100 tomorrow !

She wins the whole shebang from qualifying without dropping a single set along the way.

Beat (1) Alexandrova WR 33 by 6-3 6-4 in MD R1 and after further wins vs Babos, Giorgi and Badosa Gilbert has just won the final vs Golubic WR 130 by 6-4 6-1

Emma Rad is going her own route but as I have said elsewhere I was already encouraged for what might be in the future for Emma, given Clara's results even before this great week."

Perhaps this belongs to an unremarkable performance but I have just been following Venus Williams v zarina diyas at Miami. Had a little 20p bet that diyas would win and so it proved. So sad. I have loved watching Venus, such poise and movement but I think it must surely be time for her to hang her racket up. My bold prediction- Venus to retire after a final Wimbledon this year. Maybe persuade little sis to retire too? Who knows??

Posting on the right thread as I'm sure people won't like it, but today is Rublev Day
