Being top 250 for Wimbledon is obviously a big deal for many players so they can be considered for a WC for the event and the prize money that even an appearance will bring. Its certainly a worthy goal for many of our players. If you only consider the points they have from post Nottingham(wk 1) last year...............ie the only ones in the bag towards this years total, the top ten changes quite a bit. The bulk of Dan Evans points have come after then so, he has already qualified. Someone like Ed Corrie falls right back as a large chunk of his will be came early on last year.
185 points is a rough guide that will get a player to the 250 mark. James Ward and Dan Cox look fairly safe bets to make the mark, it would be nice to think that another could maybe join them?
The top 10 of those who may need a wild card currently reads like this;
At least two Brits will be making the top 250 for Wimbledon now (though Dan Evans may of course not need a wild card at all if he has any more weeks like the last one!) Dan Cox still looks odds on, I still think there'll be at least one other that'll come from the pack.
Pts
386 - Dan Evans
211 - James Ward
185 - Approx Top 250
163 - Dan Cox
120 - David Rice
103 - Kyle Edmunds
98 - Ollie Golding
96- Dan Smethurst
84 - Marcus Willis
74 - Ed Corrie
73 - Alex Ward

Do I take it that the new figure for Dan Evans of 290 doesn't include the 96 points scored last week ? He has only gone up 20 since Dec 31st which I take to be 12 from Doha and 8 from AO qualies.
Oh. And great stats. Will be interestin to follow this in the build up to Wimbledon over the next few months.

Evans is a cert, as is Ward IMO. Cox has a very good chance & I'd really like to see Rice in the MD at Wimbledon. Also I'd expect Oli or Kyle to get a WC
Joko, Hev, Tara, Naomi and Sam fall into the category. Jade might get there.
Be really interested to see a similar ranking points table for the girls - any of the statisticians on the board up for producing it?
Easy enough to extract the totals from the best 16 lists. I've excluded points due off up to and including 9 June and added back enough of their current non-counters due off after that date to give them 16 scores:
727 Laura 426 JoKo 343 Hev 230 Naomi
224 = current WR 250 (the new points system means this figure is likely to drop gradually over the year)
188 Sam 181 Tara 126 Jade
The same order as the rankings apart from Tara dropping two places. The others have less than 100 points on this basis so far.

By the way, I had been keeping a separate count and was nearly going to post an update. Shhh saved me the bother :)
I know some don't like the mention of his name, but as of last Monday, I had Brydan in there on 78 points ( the only minor difference I have for these listed is to have Marcus 2 more on 86 points ).
