Hull 10K

Shockingly, Naomi Cavaday didn't get a wildcard so she's in qualifying. She's through to the final qualies round pretty comfortably though. She's up against Lucy Fletcher of Britain, I'd expect Cavaday to win easily as she's ranked 200 places higher.

Katie O'Brien didn't enter for the main draw in time, so she's top seed in qualies. She's also through to rd3, only dropping 1 game so far. She should have a comfortable win in rd3.

There's also a Samantha Murray in the main draw. A long-lost cousin of Andy and Jamie by any chance ?

Maybe Naomi just wanted to get some matches in at the start of the year.  I think that is a good idea, last month she got to play the top seed early in a tourny and I think it is matches that she really needs.  I am really excited about her.

Thanks for the update.

Just to clarify, Karen Paterson won 6-1, 7-6.

It's easily done, it just puzzled me at first as the scoreline seemed to contradict itself ! I think all the others are correct as I checked them on the BBC.

For some bizarre reason I just typed the scores from the perspective of the wrong person! Thanks for pointing it out - I`d probably never have noticed! I`ll edit it now.

Anyone know much about Lindsay Cox?  I think she is quite young right?

Also, Melanie South is off to a good start.  I remember reading a while back that she could be quite good.  I hope she has a good year.

Regarding Lindsay Cox, she is 23 and has had some pretty good results this year and last year, but that`s all I know. According to her ITF profile she plays with a double-handed backhand and is a leftie.

Melanie South is at a career-high of 398 at the moment.

Thanks Sally.  I had never heard of Lindsey before so I thought she might be younger, but she is playing well so good luck to her.

Melanie has a very good website that I enjoyed.  I got stuck on a game there for half an hour too!  I hope she has a great year too.  She seems very fan friendly has a place where fans can give her messages, ask questions etc and she responds!
