Lot of current and former University of Virginia players here: in a sense all of ours are lucky to have avoided both Singh and Shabaz, even if it is largely because they all play each other. Only one potential point may be better than unlikely to get any. Smethurst likely to play at least one current Virginia team member, so should be a Davis Cup-type match. But yes, having most of your compatriots in your bracket is unfortunate, when no points on offer before qualification. And having almost all the rest be locals just adds to the fun!

Home from home for our lads. I guess we know who will make up one of the doubles teams...
I know SC has already put up the draw but here it is again with opponents' CHs and H2H details - I need some of the extra info for Twitter and with so many Brits in the draw, it was easier to do it like this here before trying to work out how to get it into as few tweets as possible, so you might as well have the extra info, especially since a couple of the career highs are very different to current rankings!
QR1: (q1) Ed Corrie WR 336 v George Coupland WR 930 - H2H 1-0, 3 sets, Felixstowe Fut. 2012 QF
QR1: Josh Milton WR 606 v Carsten Ball (AUS) WR 915 (CH 108 in 2010) - H2H 1-0, 1 & 3, Austin Fut. 2012 SF
QR1: (q7) Dan Smethurst WR 482 v (WC) Ronald Powell (USA) WR 1677 (CH 1595 in Jun)
QR1: (q3) David Rice WR 374 vs Dennis Nevolo (USA) WR 644 (CH 586 in Apr)

Ball has only managed one singles win since losing to Kyle in the Vero Beach Futures final in May and seems to play mainly doubles these days.
Sean is due to play Dave in QR2 if they both win their first matches but Nevolo beat Ed on his way to the final in Mansfield last week and Ouellette has won his first match in his last 8 Challenger qualifying draws, so it looks like being so close to each other in the draw yet again may be the least of their worries.

None of them are in any sort of form so it's a very tricky one to guess. I would even fancy George at this stage, who has done ok lately.
well, Dave made the final last week so that's not too shabby (even if it was just a 10k).
But agree about George - seems to have found his stride and Ed is certainly not on great form.
Agree about Dave, but although it wasn't very clear, we were asking (or at least I was) as to who would get through in the top section, which contains Ed, George, Josh and Dan. With the results so far, there are going to be 3 out of 4 Brits in QR2 in this section and the other "interloper" is an American WC with WR 1677.
Hopefully Dave will get through as well.
