Week 44 - Challenger ($50,000) - Traralgon (Vic.), Australia (hard)

R1:  (3) James Ward WR 180 vs Chris Guccione (AUS) WR 487 (CH 67 in April 2008)
R1:  Brydan Klein WR 403 vs (WC) Gavin van Peperzeel (AUS) WR 586 (*)

Although the Gooch's CH was achieved over five years ago, I feel Dino's going to be have to be on his mettle to deal with him.

(*)  Whoops, I keep overlooking Klein for some strange reason...

Edit: no double p in Peperzeel (thought I'd better change it before it gets ingrained!)

Brydan also playing and has a chance of picking up a point against a wildcard.

James has Greg Jones as the seed in his quarter with Klahn a potential semi finalist. Good chance for some decent points again.

James and Chris have played once before, at the Jersey Challenger in 2008, when the Aussie won 13-11 in a 3rd set tiebreak.

Nothing against Klein (!?) but you've got to have a sneaking preference for Gavin - how can you not love someone called Gavin van Pepperzeel - it's just magic !

R1:  (4) Brydan Klein & Danai Udomchoke (THA) CR 398 (144+254) vs Thanasi Kokkinakis & Benjamin Mitchell (AUS/AUS) CR 1819 (958+861)

The Aussies are not to be underestimated - they won the title in Melbourne last week...

And a new partner for Dino (according to the ATP, he's 33 & inactive), not to mention a lousy draw:

R1:  Ben Mathias (AUS) & James Ward UNR (Mathias has a CH of 1008 from May 1999!  Dino's current doubles ranking is 750 vs (2) Dane Propoggia & Jose (Rubin) Statham (AUS/NZL) CR 276 (129+147)

I was wondering about Dino's choice, but a look at the singles draw explains it. Greg Jones has withdrawn with a knee issue, and James probably had to search for a new partner at the last moment.

Rubin Statham has replaced Greg Jones as a seed, so James should come out of that quarter if he can get defeat the Gooch.

I think the  appropriate acronym is : ROFLMAO

Thanks for that. I haven't laughed so much in years.

Bit early yet though. Will save that for later.
