RE: Week 43 - Great Britain F22 ($10,000) - Tipton (Hard)

Coup, I've never seen Isaac play so can't add too much to the discussion but I do play a few tournaments, grade 3's mostly, and it's quite interesting to see how some of the kids I've played against or seen around are doing now that they start to enter futures qualies. To be honest most of them in my opinion are unlikely to get atp points but there are a few; suleau and malik already have points for example. But I agree of the younger kids Vidal could definitely be a good prospect he's got a monster forehand and very good game overall, played him once a year ago and he trashed me obviously...I think he could go places, big weapons.

Interesting to hear your feedback, bartman2099. Many thanks.

Are there any other juniors/young players who you rate particularly ?

I think it's so hard to pick future 'stars' from young players (apart from the few tip-top players, and sometimes even then). The tennis evolves a lot, for one thing, but it's the person that makes the difference - I'm pleased to hear that you rate Enrique highly too but I've no idea about the lad's background, his family, his goals, his other plans - and of course a lot of that can change too, it's that time of life . . .

Tim Henman, by his own admission, was certainly not one of the most talented/successful youngsters in his GB batch. But he was SO focused and committed to his goal that he saw all the others fall by the wayside in comparison.

Wish you luck with your tennis, bart . ..

Some FQR results:

Oliver HUDSON (GBR) 6-2 6-2 Oliver BRENNAN (GBR)
Jesper BRUNSTROM (SWE) [2] 3-6 6-1 7-6(4) Isaac STOUTE (GBR)
Keelan OAKLEY (GBR) 6-0 6-3 Adam SKALSKY (GBR)
Joshua PARIS (GBR) [4] 6-3 6-2 Tom ALLEN (GBR)
David PORTER (GBR) [7] 6-1 6-2 Maniel BAINS (GBR)

A near miss for young Isaac but one-month-younger Josh Paris comes through nicely.

There were 8 non-Brits, I think, in the qualies. Only one got through (Isaac !), which is not bad going . ..

The MD is out too.

Marcus can avenge himself against Myles in the second round.
Lewis v Josh Paris could be interesting.
Rob Carter v Matthieu Roy.
A few of the 'weaker' players drawn against each other so that'll be a welcome point for one or the other.

I'll wait a few minutes in case anyone else is doing it as I write and then I'll put the R1 draw + H2Hs here.
