Yes got big smile on my face but not as large as Lewis apparently  is gonna have after his blind date . But he's got to lift his record 7th futures title of the year otherwise the deal is off !

Gosh it must be such fun hanging out with, er, "Bomb", and "Burts", and "The Vicar". I'd like to know what they get up to every minute of every day; it would light up my dreary life no end.

Agree Ratty I am not interested in their social life only their tennis skills.

I do not think this would happen my Granfather was a patriotic Scotsman but he was also a unionist so I have some insight conseqently i was keen to support the north of Scotland team .

I enjoyed spending time with players with a shared ancestry and was lucky enough to pair with world no1 ITF senior 35 singles & doubles No1 (2012 )  Jason Barnett who was also my coach  we often discussed forming a ITF senior Scotland team but we were both opponents of splitting up a union of England , Scotland , Wales and northern Ireland .

although many scots are rightly proud of their national heritage the majority are also keenly aware that they have achieved more in recent history as part of Great Britain .

Of course it's all irrelevant if as almost all polls and pundits suggest, Scotland will not vote for independance.

The majority of scots are far too canny to leave the union

Futures titles 2013

1.Marcus wills   10

2. David Rice.    8

3. Lewis burton.  7 *

all time record  appears

It's clearly engaging a number of people to see how many posts can be put on a given thread. There's an obvious element of fun to this pursuit (would any of us be on this board if we didn't at some level enjoy keeping track of statistics?) But - just to give a balancing opinion - at the same time, there are users, of whom I'll confess to being one, who would prefer not to have to go through quite so many posts in order to get to results ... and who, precisely because of valuing the insights and comments that are posted and wanting to be able to read them, hopes that posts don't proliferate primarily in pursuit of target numbers.

Suspect this may be one where we will agree to disagree ...

an obsession with facts & figures is sadly many a pharmacists past time its become  a life long habit that I have no intention of breaking ! .

Great great effort for young Dyce to be unranked & get tons futures doubles final while injured and studying for a masters degree - great effort !

Re Steven's earlier post, I would certainly have imagined that the Davis Cup committee would still have latitude whatever the remaining UK called itself.

Seems to me totally irrelevant whether it actually still calls itself the UK or anything else one might dream up ( and cheers re the suggestion of no reduced status with Scotland chopped off LOL )

Anyway, the facts of the matter would be that the formerly recognised UK would have broken into two, whatever each part is then called, which seems to me to be precisely the situation that the committee seem to have latitude with ( and no mention is made of any relevance as to one being the larger / much larger part or who initiated the break up ).

Re the other post about what if we were in the Davis Cup semis and independence was then voted for, you can certainly take it that the team would carry on non split. Apart from that seeming sensible and practical, the most relevant point is that I understand Scotland would not suddenly be independent ! We would have voted for undependence, but then the fun really would get going with all the negotiations and disentangling that would need to occur. I suspect we would still be talking years before "independence day".

Whether the sports bodies wanted to separate in advance of of absolute independence, it certainly wouldn't be next year.

Whilst Scottish tennis achieves vastly more than England per capita, they would surely struggle without a share of the cash from Wimbledon.

Imagine that James was a bit despondent after losing that first set.
4*-1 to de Lore.
