he can't have entered on time - if you're not on the entry list you aren't eligible for a SE, and if the kuwait tennis federation didn't want to give him a WC then he would have to qualify

Looking at his draw I would be suprised if Klec dropped a game in qualifying! I notice also that the 36 year old 'yugoslavian' qualified for the main draw today. I wonder if they would change his nationality if he got a ranking point?
I was the one who mentioned it - don't know why - it just jumped out at me. I think everyone's right and it's just a question of age but I liked the idea of him being some die-hard nationalist !
I am not sure how someone could be a die-hard Yugoslav nationalist. Serbian nationalist yes, Croatian nationalist yes, but a Yugoslav nationalist doesn't make much sense since the country was a completely artificial creation.

Fascinating. Is this a political statement on his part? Or just a consequence of the fact that he started playing as a Yugoslav (the first tournaments that he's listed as playing on the ITF website are the Yugoslav Masters in 1996 and 1997) and no one has ever changed his affiliation?
I've got no idea, but I remembered Steven bringing it up at kuwait F1 I think. Probably just been inactive for so long that it hasnt been updated.
Someone did bring it up on a previous thread, though it wasn't me. It looks like he simply wasn't playing at the time they all had to pick a new country and nobody noticed (or nobody cared) when he did start playing again. Another odd thing is that there is no record for him at all on the ATP site - if you search for Uros Lukic, it returns one result ... Marcos Baghdatis!
